balancing of power

Hi
My name is Samia, I was looking at the realist paradigm and was
wondering if the principle of balance of power is still necessary in today's
society for the maintenance of world peace?If yes why is that?
I would really like to have some opinions on this subject if you have any comments I'll be glad to hear from you
