Americas prompt response to September 11 attacks. The main
one relates to the crucial decision of invading Afghanistan. One should know
Americans to understand that it wasnt just a spontaneous move caused by
hurt feelings. Apart from exercising control over oil and gas routes, some of
which are still being prognosticated, there is something very real, already
existing. That something can bear enormous profits to those who
control it
Of course, drugs. The sowing campaign
traditionally is a success in this country, in spite of the wars and forbidding
laws. The last one was not an exception. The areas under the crops were being
increased only in Taliban times. The situation may further deteriorate because
all sorts of sanctions have been lifted, and Afghanistan is now free to export
its products. So, according to independent estimates, some 3 thousand tones of
Afghani narcotics are expected to be illegally forwarded to European capitals
quite soon via traditional routes, now being under the US military
control. The worst may come true. Under the CIA cover, Afghanistan
nowadays is gradually gaining the status of the worlds biggest producer
of opium, as Colombia, at its time, got the status of the leading cocaine
producer.
