: 11/9/2001 had nothing to do with the UN etc but with state supported
Arab terror from Saudi Arabia.
What we witnessed on September 11, 2001 of the destruction of the
World Towers in New York City and the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia (USA)
where over six thousand innocent human beings died is a tragic and horrible act
of utter senseless and immoral reaction of people who do not have a rational
method to fight back injustice and domination of Western nations (of the rest
of the World). I see in these acts of criminality the consequences of long
running disregard of international normes and principles envisioned at the time
of the creation of the United Nations. I suggest that we all go back and read
(really read) the Preamble of the Charter of the United Nations. I have not
read no better document that truly is inspiring, visionary, and normative than
the Charter of the United Nations. : Soon after the establishment of the
United Nations, the Western nations and the Soviet Union with its alies started
undermining the very spirit of the Charter by flooding the United Nation's
Secretariate with their spies and functionaries. The much desired international
"public servant" never evolved. Even worse, at one point the Security Council
dominated by the United States and the Soviet Union appointed an ex-Nazi to
head such an august body. : The main offenders are both Western nations and
the Soviet Union and its alies. The "non-aliegned nations" are another block
of, often dictatorial, governments who tried to clean world forums befor
removing their own dirty and oppersive political systems. : Where billions
of human beings in so called "Third World" nations are suffuring under
tyrannical local governments, famine, and dehumanization, the developed nations
were simply promoting their selfish economic and political hegemony. Yes, there
are international financial institutions such the World Bank, the IMF, and
regional organizations that are supposed to help underdeveloped nations with
soft-loans, planning et cetera. But there is not much to show for such effort
of the last fifty years. : The World is in deep crisis, it is not just
terrorism that ought to be addressed. Even at that it is a partial effort
directed against individuals and groups. How about state terrorism that has
been inflicting great destruction on civilians in the name of state security et
cetera? : This is the time to rethink the role of the United Nations,
international law, and the activities of powerful national governments in the
future. It will not help us solve our problems by simply demonizing the Taliban
and bin Laden, or other groups and individuals. I am not in any form defending
any terrorist in what ever form. I am simply pointing out that we should
rethink our "righteous" indignation. Thanks. Tecola
