Book Review Symposium: International Law and Technology

In the Service of Keeping Capital Moving

Abstract

This review essay of Data Driven by Karen Levy explores the legal infrastructures of capital flow in trucking. Trucking sits alongside other modes of the transportation of commodities, like shipping, where networks of laws and regulations for global capital movement (public, private, domestic, transnational and international) become visible. The insightful centring of truckers in Data Driven acts as an example of sensitive and critical storytelling around capitalism, highlighting the classed, devalued and exploited labour facilitating capital flow.
